Functional skills qualifications will be rolled out across England in
September 2010.
To ensure that the qualifications are appropriate
for and available to the whole range of learners who need
to access
them, functional skills have been piloted since September 2007.
A comprehensive evaluation is being carried out throughout the pilot.
To fully inform the final qualifications,
it is vital that we get the right
sort of information from you in the right way and at the right time.

Thank you and we look forward to welcoming you at one of our events.
The events will cover four themes:
|
Awarding organisations (AOs) – find out what is on offer from the eleven AOs taking part in the pilot |
|
Staff training – find out what staff training is available in the final year from the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS) and National Strategies (NS) |
|
Providing information – find out what information you will need to send to whom and when |
|
Learners – find out how you can increase the range and number of learners for the final year of the pilot |
The events will include presentations from the Education Minister Iain Wright, leading authorities on functional skills from QCDA and the DCSF and an opportunity to hear practitioner feedback. Delegates will also have the opportunity to meet other pilot centre managers and to discuss their plans for the final year of the pilot.
At each event, pilot centres will be given their personalised pilot pack which will contain summary information of all the final year requirements and include a pilot centre certificate to display in your reception.
